Aquarius is one of the oldest known star constellations. 'The Water Carrier' stands in simple beauty in the fourth quadrant in the southern hemisphere in the so-called Sea of Heaven. Because he is surrounded by Cetus (whale), Pisces (fish), Delphinus (dolphin) and the Eridanus (river).
Sadaslsuud, a yellow supergiant, is the brightest star in this constellation. The name comes from the Arabic phrase 'sa'd al-suud', which means 'happiness of happiness'. This star is associated with happiness in spring, when the sun rises again after the cold winter.
Aquarius had a special meaning for the ancients as a calendar symbol, which also explains the origin of the name. When the sun moved into Aquarius, it signaled the beginning of the rainy season.
