Sadaslsuud, a yellow supergiant, is the brightest star in this constellation. The name comes from the Arabic phrase 'sa'd al-suud', ​​which means 'happiness of happiness'. This star is associated with happiness in spring, when the sun rises again after the cold winter.

Aquarius had a special meaning for the ancients as a calendar symbol, which also explains the origin of the name. When the sun moved into Aquarius, it signaled the beginning of the rainy season.
